GEMS Education IBDP and CP students celebrate strong exam results and university admissions

• GEMS’ seven IB schools in UAE once again outperform international averages
• IBDP students achieve average pass rate of 92%, average point score of 32.8
• AP results released on same day, with GEMS schools beating global averages

GEMS Education students studying the International Baccalaureate (IB) have recorded outstanding results in their exams, once more performing significantly above international averages and securing admission to the very best universities in the world. This year saw a return to the pre-pandemic assessment process, with all components of the exams completed in full.

A total of 605 Grade 12/Year 13 students from seven GEMS schools sat exams for the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP), up from 533 last academic year. With an average point score of 32.8 and a pass rate of 92 per cent, GEMS students once again outperformed world averages from last year. One student, from GEMS Wellington International School in Dubai, achieved the highest score possible of 45.

Saatvik Sharma, a student at GEMS Modern Academy who scored 42 and is now heading to UCLA to study Finance, said: “I feel ecstatic and relieved now that this chapter of my life has come to a close. It’s wonderful to see my hard work and dedication pay off. I look forward to university life and will carry the skills learnt during IB forever with me.”

Chloe Dsouza, also of GEMS Modern Academy, scored 41 and is on her way to University of Notre Dame in the US to major in Applied Maths. She said: “It’s been such a journey; I know all of us have come such a long way since we started the Diploma Programme. I am very relieved and overjoyed with my results. This would not have been possible without the support of my friends, family, and teachers.”

Meanwhile, 28 students from two GEMS schools – GEMS International School – Al Khail and GEMS Wellington International School – sat exams for the increasingly popular IB Career-related Programme (IBCP). The two schools recorded a strong overall pass rate of 92 per cent and an average IB subject score of 3.9.

Also released on the same day as the IB exam results were those of the Advanced Placement (AP) exams published by the United States’ College Board. GEMS Al Khaleej International School in Dubai recorded its best-ever AP results. A total of 63 candidates sat the exams, with an average score of 3.44 out of a possible 5, exceeding the UAE average of 2.73 and the global average of 3.13.

At GEMS Dubai American Academy, meanwhile, where AP is also offered, students recorded an impressive average score of 3.6, beating UAE and global averages, too, and setting the school’s highest average in the last three years.

The seven GEMS schools offering the IB include GEMS World Academy – Dubai, GEMS International School – Al Khail, GEMS Dubai American Academy, GEMS American Academy – Abu Dhabi, GEMS Wellington Academy – Silicon Oasis, GEMS Wellington International School, and GEMS Modern Academy.
