Safeguarding at GEMS Education
At GEMS Education, the safeguarding of every child is our highest priority. We are committed to creating school environments where students feel safe, respected and supported to thrive.
Safeguarding is embedded across our schools through robust policy, strong leadership, clear systems and a culture where every member of staff understands their responsibility to protect children.
Our Safeguarding Commitment
We take a proactive and rigorous approach to safeguarding:
- Operating a specialised Central Safeguarding Team that leads safeguarding governance, strategy, policy and procedure;
- Providing experienced safeguarding leadership within each school
- Maintaining robust policies and procedures to identify and respond to concerns
- Ensuring all staff receive safeguarding training appropriate to their role
- Advocating and promoting the importance of the child’s voice, wellbeing and protection
- Working in partnership with families and relevant authorities when concerns arise
Our safeguarding practice aligns with local legislation and recognised best practice in international safeguarding.
Safeguarding at GEMS Education
GEMS schools and services are supported by a Central Safeguarding Team based at GEMS Education who ensure consistent safeguarding practice, specialist advice and strong oversight across our global network.
Every GEMS school has a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) within the leadership team who oversees child protection and safeguarding practice.
GEMS staff are trained to recognise safeguarding concerns and to respond quickly and appropriately to protect children.
Empowering Students
Safeguarding means helping students understand how to protect themselves and seek support when they need it.
Through our curriculum and pastoral programmes, students learn about:
- Personal safety and wellbeing
- Respectful relationships
- Online safety and responsible digital behaviour
- How to seek help and speak up through a child-friendly GEMS Safeguarding Policy, supportive teams and trusted adults
At GEMS Education, we aim to ensure every student feels confident that their voice will be heard.
GEMS Safeguarding Policy
Our safeguarding procedures are outlined in the GEMS Safeguarding Policy, which sets out our approach to protecting children and responding to concerns across all GEMS schools.
