Sustainable Development
Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) equips our students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values necessary to shape a sustainable future.
At GEMS Education, our responsibility to the planet lies not only in our practices on a business, school, and individual level, but also in the education we provide. ESD is essential in empowering the next generation to be eco-conscious, self-sufficient global citizens, who understand the urgency of environmental responsibility. There may not be a universal consensus on the ‘correct’ pedagogical approach to facilitate ESD in the classroom, but our schools agree that the best way to do so is by shifting toward teaching-learning methods that are collaborative, experiential, and inquiry-driven. The aim of this approach is to motivate and empower the learner to effect positive change.
