Jumeirah College has achieved the prestigious status of being a gold-standard Eco-school.

Environmental Pledges

The ‘Make an Environmental Pledge’ campaign encourages students to commit to environmental stewardship by composing their environmental pledges in our designated ‘pledge book’. As a token of appreciation, participants receive a complimentary environmentally friendly jute bag.

Clothes Swap/Thrift Market

Students are encouraged to bring in school clothing items that no longer fit or are no longer needed. These items can then be swapped with fellow students, promoting both waste reduction and awareness of the challenges associated with ‘fast fashion’.

Plastic recycling

The school has established a partnership with Simply Bottles to facilitate the recycling of plastic water bottles.

Solar Energy Generation

The school has installed solar panels in the parking area to harness solar energy for their power needs.

Textbook Recycling and Donating

Through the school’s partnership with EEG, Jumeirah College actively participates in recycling old textbooks. To date, the school has successfully recycled over 2,000 kilograms of paper. In a spirit of collaboration, Jumeirah College has donated course textbooks to another GEMS school in Sharjah for a program that they no longer offer, extending the life of these valuable educational resources.

As part of the school’s commitment to environmental sustainability, a tree planting scheme that correlates with the textbook recycling efforts has been initiated. EEG, acting on our behalf, plants trees as a tangible representation of the school’s dedication to a greener future.
