Learning Environments
Classrooms
Our individual classrooms are designed to support your child’s development through interactive spaces that include areas for art, house play, toys, blocks, reading and writing, sand and water play, woodworking and music and movement.
Islands of Learning and Play
GEMnastics
We’ve also created special areas and programs for every stage of your child’s physical development and capacity for learning. Children will perfect both gross motor and fine motor skills in our GEMnastics studio. As children tumble over the brightly colored mats, they will develop a strong sense of body awareness, rhythm and coordination while having lots of fun.
GEMnasium
On our entry level, infants and the younger toddlers each have their own GEMnasium where they can roll, crawl, cruise, waddle, toddle, and walk and explore the world around them. On the next level, just a hop and skip down the hall from their classroom, there is plenty of room for older toddlers and pre-schoolers to run, ride a tricycle, climb on cushions, swing and slide into a bowl of multi-colored balls in our large GEMnasium. Participation in group activities will promote teamwork and build self-esteem. We have designed activities that develop strength, balance, timing, hand-eye coordination, flexibility and dexterity. Children learn how to navigate through their personal space while developing self-confidence, team work and sportsmanship.
GEMstage
Children of all ages love to pretend. On the GEMstage, students bring stories to life while developing individual talents. The theatre opens up to a puppet show where children can act out imaginative stories that have no bounds. This experience will enhance literacy skills, stimulate interest in world topics, and introduce cultures and characters while encouraging kindness, acceptance and creativity.
GEMusic
As children are acting on stage, others perform and participate in activities that encourage them to express and represent what they think, feel and observe through imaginative play, music and movement in our performing arts area. Children will develop a love of music while singing and playing instruments. Our “Mini-Maestro” program will help the young child develop phonemic awareness, alphabetic principle, fluency and vocabulary. This dedicated music and dance studio provides the technology for students in multiple areas to compose music on-line, play in a band, dance with a ballet troupe with peers from across the globe.
GEMstone Park
Our GEMstone Park area is designed to represent various natural and physical environments. The activities incorporated into this technologically-enhanced space helps children recognize, classify and interpret various features, ecosystems, habitats, materials and patterns in their environment.
All areas and activities are planned to also enhance the skills needed for literacy, numeracy and acquainting our children with different world languages and cultures. Children will learn to socialize at an early age and achieve milestones to prepare for future challenges.
