Our Curriculum

The core subjects of English, Maths and Science take up a large proportion of the timetable in the senior part of the school. Our goal is to make sure children leave Sherborne House with a thorough grounding in these key subjects. Our excellent results in senior school entrance exams and in Key Stage 2 National Tests show we are working to very high standards.

Other Curriculum Subjects
A full range of additional subjects is taught throughout the Prep School so that each child receives an extremely broad and balanced education. These subjects include: History, Geography, French, Reasoning, Study Skills, and Personal & Social Education.

French is taught by a specialist who is a qualified teacher. The emphasis is on making the language accessible and enjoyable and children often find they are well ahead when they move to their senior schools.

Spanish is class taught in Years 4, 5 and 6 and is available as an extra-curricular activity.

The History department organises a number of outings including highly successful residential trips in Years 4 and 5.
