School Trips

Bolitho pupils enjoy many outings to concerts and plays, as well as expeditions that involve camping and field trips.

In Geography, activities have included studying the effects of regeneration schemes on local towns and settlements, as well as studies of tourism trends. We also make good use of our setting to study coastal morphology and the granite and upland landscapes on the Penwith Peninsula.

Year 10/11 Geography students made a week-long visit to Barcelona to review the urban process of gentrification and inner city slum clearance. They looked at the Olympic Village as a study of urban sustainable planning, and at how tourism impacts on beach resorts in and around Barcelona.

Science and Biology trips include the Eden Project; a visit to a water treatment works to understand the processes involved in making water safe; Battery Rocks to study zonation on the rocky shore, and Hayle Towans to study succession in the sand dunes.

Pupils throughout the school occasionally attend lectures and Royal Society of Chemistry events. They also take part in competitions that encourage investigation and scientific awareness.

A number of children participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme or the Ten Tors expedition.

We also organise an annual family ski trip which is open to children, parents and staff.
