Mrs Clare Connor Year One Teacher

Head of Year One

BA (Honours) English, Leeds University From 2002 to 2006, Mrs Connor taught Reception, Year 3 and Year 4 at The Hill Primary School, Rotherham, UK. In 2006 Mrs Connor moved to Dubai and taught Year 2 at Jebel Ali Primary School where she was also Art and Design Technology coordinator.

Ms Sarah Roberts Year One Teacher

BA Hons History, University of Newcastle Upon Tyne Post Graduate Certificate of Education specializing in Early Years SCITT from University of Northumbria, Newcastle. After gaining her teaching qualification, Ms Roberts enjoyed teaching in KS1 at an Infant School in Sunderland, UK. She has spent the last two years teaching in an Elementary school in North Carolina, United States. She is thrilled to be joining the Year 1 team at JPS.

Ms Lucy Tasker Year One Teacher

BSc in Education, Human Development and Early Childhood Studies at Oxford Brookes University. PGCE, Exeter University specialising in Early Years On completing a BSc in Education, Human Development and Early Childhood Studies in 2009 Miss Tasker decided to follow a career path in teaching and undertook a PGCE, specialising in Early Years. In 2010 Miss Tasker moved to London to take up the post of Reception class teacher in an outstanding primary school in Central London. During her 2 years at the school she became Phonics Co-ordinator. Miss Tasker enjoys keeping fit with yoga and running and has a keen interest in travelling to new places. Miss Tasker is very much looking forward to taking up her new post of Year One Teacher at JPS and teaching in an international school setting.

Mr Daniel Smith Year One Teacher

Head of FS/KS1 Maths

BA (Hons) Primary Education with Science, University of Surrey Roehampton, UK After completing university, Mr Smith went on to teach Year 3 for 4 years in a school in Ham, Surrey, where he was also sports and healthy schools co-ordinator. Subsequently, Mr Smith has taught Year 2 at The Vineyard School in Richmond, Surrey as a class teacher and maths co-ordinator. Daniel enjoys sports, playing the guitar and the world of film.

Ms Louise Usher Year One Teacher

BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS, University of Durham, UK After graduating from the University of Durham in 2009, Miss Usher began her career in a diverse, multi-cultural school in the centre of Middlesbrough called Newport Primary. She has taught, Year 4, Year 1 and is currently teaching a mixed Year 1/2 class, where she is also the Year Leader. Miss Usher is passionate about teaching and learning and constantly strives for high standards. In her free time, she enjoys cycling, playing darts and watching movies. Miss Usher is very much looking forward to relocating to Dubai and is delighted to be joining the Year 1 team at JPS.

Ms Victoria Milligan            Year One Teacher

MA in Social Sciences,  specialising in Psychology and Philosophy, Dundee University Miss Milligan’s journey towards becoming a Primary School Teacher began after graduating from Dundee University in 2000 with an MA in Social Sciences, specialising in Psychology and Philosophy. She gained experience working as a Teaching Assistant supporting children with social, emotional and behaviour difficulties within Sheuchan Primary School, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She then went on to study at Strathclyde University where she graduated with a PGDE in Education. After her initial training she took up a teaching position within Royston Primary School, Glasgow, and obtained her Qualified Teacher Status. Miss Milligan then taught at Morley Memorial Primary School, Cambridge, for five years. During that time she taught Year 2, Year 3, mentored newly qualified and student teachers and was also the school’s Music Coordinator. Miss Milligan is passionate about teaching and learning! She seeks to develop, support and encourage children to think and work independently and collaboratively, to be self-motivated with enquiring minds. Miss Milligan loves to sing, play the piano and enjoys listening to music. She finds arts and crafts to be a very relaxing hobby and enjoys keeping fit by running.

Mrs Shauna Quinn               Year One Teacher

BEd (Hons) in Primary Education, Trinity College,Dublin, Ireland Mrs. Quinn began her teaching journey in 2005, when she graduated from the University of Dublin, Trinity College, after completing her Bachelor in Education. She has seven years experience as a mainstream teacher, specialising in teaching 4-8 year olds. Her experience was gained in a multicultural, developing school in one of the most ethnically diverse communities in Ireland. Mrs. Quinn has a keen interest in the arts, particularly the theatre. She has secured First Class Honours in her associate diploma in Speech and Drama and has taught drama part-time. She also enjoys music, having played the recorder, clarinet and tin whistle. Shauna is delighted to be joining the Year 1 team at JPS.

Ms Lucy Seaman Year Two Teacher

Head of Year Two

BA English Language and Linguistics. The Essex Graduate and Registered Teacher Programme Primary 5 – 11 years Miss Seaman began her teaching experience 9 years ago, as a Graduate Teacher, with a split Year 1 / 2 class. Since then her teaching experience has spiralled. She has had experience of teaching all year groups 1— 6 and taught her own classes in Years 1, 2 and 3. Dedicated to achievement and inspiring others, Miss Seaman has held the positions of Key Stage 1 Co-ordinator and, for the last 4 years, Phase Leader for Years 2 and 3, at a large primary school in Essex, called Grove Wood Primary.Miss Seaman has had experience of co-ordinating Science, PSHCE and Healthy Schools for years 1-6.Lucy enjoys keeping fit and working towards personal challenges; she has run three London Marathons, climbed Kilimanjaro and worked in an orphanage in Kenya. Miss Seaman is delighted to be joining the Year 2 team, at JPS, in September 2011.

Ms Catherine Badesha               Year Two Teacher

BEd (Hons) Degree in Primary Education, University of Hertfordshire Miss Badesha began her teaching journey in 2009, when she graduated from the University of Hertfordshire, after completing a BEd (Hons) degreein Primary Education. After completing her initial teacher training, Miss Badesha secured a teaching position in a Primary School in Hertfordshire, where she completed her NQT year and continued to teach until August 2012. During her time in the teaching profession, Miss Badesha has taught Year three and five but has experience of younger years from her initial teacher training. At her last school Miss Badesha was also the leader of PE, which involved coaching the school netball team and preparing children for a county athletics final. Miss Badesha likes to keep fit by attending the gym; she also enjoys dancing and has become quite a fan of Zumba dancing. Having studied drama at school herself, Miss Badesha loves going to the theatre. She likes to include lots of drama in her teaching and takes a creative approach to teaching and learning. She finds arts and crafts a relaxing past time hobby. Finally she enjoys reading books, her all time favourite author is Roald Dahl.

Mrs Nikki Cole       Year Two Teacher

BA (Honours) Education Studies, Sheffield University,UK PGCE (Primary) Oxford Brookes University, UK Mrs Cole joined JPS in January 2009 and is currently teaching in Year 1. Before joining JPS, Mrs Cole has had an extensive experience of teaching younger children in both Foundation Stage and Years 1 and 2.

Ms Janine O’Higgins          Year Two Teacher

FS/KS1 Literacy Leader

BEd in Primary Education from St. Mary’s University College Belfast, UK After university Ms O’Higgins taught in her local primary school in Newcastle, Northern Ireland. She then decided to move abroad to Qatar to begin her first international teaching post. Ms. O’Higgins has been teaching a Year 1 class in Qatar and is joining the Year 1 team at JPS in 2010. Janine enjoys many competitive sports including Irish dancing, gaelic football and netball. She has organised and led various sporting events, excursions and has co-ordinated productions.

Ms Nichola Lunney              Year Two Teacher

BA Hons in Primary Education with QTS at Brighton University Ms Lunney began teaching in South London, England where she taught for four years. She taught in Year One and in Year Three and she had the valuable experience of teaching in an Educational Behavioral Difficulties school for two years. Ms Lunney then moved to Thailand where she taught for one year before moving to Dubai. Ms Lunney has currently been living in Dubai for 6 years. For the first two years she was part of the team of teachers who were responsible for opening and running Star International School in Al Quasis. For the last four years she has been teaching in Royal Dubai school, another Gems school based in Mirdif. She has taught and led both Foundation Stage 2 and Year One.

Ms Holly O'Neill Year Two Teacher

BEd in Primary Education with Geography, St Mary’s University College in Belfast I trained St Mary’s University College in Belfast (BEd in Primary Education with Geography). I have been teaching in Northern Ireland for 3 three years. I taught one year in a composite class of year 2, 3 & 4, one year teaching year 4&5 and last year teaching year 5. During my training I studied and taught Year 8 Geography in the Netherlands for 6months. In my last school I led Drama and held an afterschool club which both I and the children thoroughly enjoyed.

Ms Jennifer McGrouther      Year Two Teacher

BA (Hons) Language and Marketing Management, Edinburgh Napier University, UK PGDE in Primary Education, University of Edinburgh, UK After graduating from the University of Edinburgh, Ms McGrouther taught FS2 in a school just outside Edinburgh called Woodburn Primary. Jennifer is currently part of a pastoral care working party and she is fully committed to promoting high achievement and involving children as much as possible in their learning. Ms McGrouther is very much looking forward to her move to Dubai to experience new cultures whilst working in a familiar setting. Ms McGrouther's hobbies are travelling and culture and she enjoys keeping fit and many sporting activities.
