Manchester Metropolitan University ranks as one of the UK’s top three most popular universities. The Institute of Education at MMU is a leading education centre for research and study. It is the major provider of initial teacher training and continuing professional development in the north of England and is one the largest teacher education establishments in the country.

Our leadership programmes have been developed over a number of years with various partners including HTI and with the support of our internationally acclaimed advisers.

To ensure maximum benefit for our teachers, we have now partnered with MMU to deliver a fully accredited Masters in Education programme that is taught through a blended approach of face-to-face training and on-line support and training.

Apple Research

In partnership with Apple and with the ambition to remain at the forefront of education in all areas, GEMS Education has undertaken a action research project with Apple to learn more about the benefits of the use of handheld technologies in the classroom. Supported by Apple this project has seen students in some of our schools heavily engaged in using Mac Book, iPod and iPhone technologies to enrich their learning experience and use these devices in a similar way to how we use a piece of paper, a pen and textbooks. As well as giving students an enhanced learning experience, this programme has also enabled teachers to undertake research based projects and develop their own skills in the use of instructional technologies in schools.
