Leadership TeamGraeme McCafferty Hello, my name is Graeme McCafferty and I come from East Kilbride which is a town just outside Glasgow in Scotland. I obtained my BEd Honours at the University of the West of Scotland and started my teaching career in Scotland, where I had the opportunity to develop active learning within the classroom. I believe that learning through play is an important aspect to the education of each child at any age. I then made the exciting move to further my career in Dubai, I am now entering my fourth year teaching in the U.A.E. During my first year of teaching at GWPS I was fortunate enough to be allowed to introduce Games Based Learning to the school which, over the past two years, has developed into an integral part of the Key Stage 2 curriculum. This year I am looking forward to leading ICT throughout the whole school. Five out of the past six summers I have worked at various summer camps across America and have been involved in teaching a number of outdoor activities including kayaking, canoeing, archery and many sports. Two years ago I was also given the opportunity to teach in a rural school in Kenya which allowed me to focus on how to teach with very little resources. This opened my eyes to how children can learn with literally nothing and is an experience that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I love to travel and have enjoyed working in different cultures and hope to add to my experiences this year in Dubai. I am looking forward to introducing iPads to GWPS this year as well as look at new and innovative ways to teach using technology, this is going to be a very exciting year!
